The OHSAA postseason for cross country began this past Saturday and all of our runners went out to compete with hopes of moving on and qualifying for the regional meet next weekend. The Franklin boys team competes in division 1 while the girls compete in division 2. For the girls race our ladies had to be one of the top 8 teams or an individual in the top 32 to qualify for regionals. In the boys race our runners needed to be one of the top 7 teams or in the top 28 individuals to qualify for regionals. Every year the competition at this meet seems to get tougher and the times needed to make it out are faster. We came in prepared and everyone gave their best effort in some very quick races.

The girls division 2 race started at 12:15pm and went out quickly. Many of our ladies have been battling injuries and illness over the last couple of weeks, but they did their best and still came away with some great times. Laila Black once again led the girls with a time of 23:46, Sarah Wallace was right behind her with a new season best time of 23:55. Bryley Wulff (24:24), Kydee Shults (26:47) and Julionnya Juanitis (32:01) gave it everything they had for their last race of the season. Everyone is going to enjoy a little time off, while also planning to come back next season stronger and faster.

The boys division 1 race started at 1:00pm and they all went out fast. The first couple groups of runners, including our own Connor Green, came through the mile marker in just a few seconds over 5 minutes. From here the field started to spread out and the race for the top 28 began in earnest. Connor was our lead runner and ran the course well, keeping perfect positioning to qualify for regionals. With a final burst coming down the home stretch he finished 22nd overall with a time of 16:26 punching his ticket to regionals next weekend. The rest of the boys team came up short of qualifying but turned in some good times that bode well for our chances next season. Oliver Crosthwaite crossed the line with a time of 18:08, followed by Daniel Osborne (19:48), Connor Cole (20:41), and Caleb Osborne (23:06).

Connor Green will race at Troy next Saturday at 2:00 pm in the division 1 regional meet, with a chance to qualify for the state championship. Connor is participating in his third division 1 regional in a row, something that has only happened once before in Franklin cross country history. Tickets can be purchased at and we would love to show as much support as we can. Good Luck Connor!
