In 1973, after many years of not having a team, Franklin Lady Cat Tennis was born. After 53 years of trying, history has been made and Franklin Lady Cat Tennis finally has a District Qualifier and her name is Delia Nau!

Delia is a Senior at Franklin High School. Before her freshman year, she had never competed in a competitive tennis match. By her sophomore year, she was elected Team Captain by her teammates. She was then re-elected the next two years to keep her role. From the start, Delia has always had the respect of her peers.

As she nears the end of her fourth season, Nau earned the 69th win of her high school tennis career while defeating Cedarville 6-1, 6-1 in the 3rd Round of the Division 2 Sectional Tournament in Centerville. She was already the first Lady Cat to be seeded (3rd) in the Sectional Tournament. Soon after, she became the first member of the Franklin Girls Tennis Team to ever reach the Districts Tournament.

Delia’s drive to Districts was not her first demonstration of success in the Lady Cats uniform. She is also a 3-Time Valley View Invitational Champion. She has earned a Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals and a Bronze Medal at the SWBL Tournament. She is no stranger to winning big matches. She has also broke her own record from last season (22) by notching 24 wins this season; a record she had shared with her sister Millie.

Delia’s next big match will be when she plays her seeding matches on Wednesday September 30th at Centerville High School at 8am. Her opening match will be against the #2 seed Lauren Bigby from Archbishop Alter.

After her seeding matches, her District matches will be played at Mason Middle/High School at 9am on Thursday, October 8th. If Delia wins two matches at Districts, she will then advance to the State Tournament.
