On Saturday the Cross Country teams traveled to Obetz Ohio for the OHSAA early season invitational. This is an extremely competitive meet that includes many of the teams and individuals that will be competing for state championships on the same course in November.
In the boys division 1 race our men went out and ran some pretty impressive times to start the season. The team was led by senior Connor Green with a time of 17:59.4. He was closely followed by sophomore Olver Crossthwiate who ran a new personal best time of 18:20.3 to start his season on a great path. Freshman Connor Cole (21:22.4) finished 3rd for the Wildcats he was followed by sophomores Daniel Osborne (21:34.8) and Donaven Butler (23:44.0), giving him a huge new PR as well. Caleb Osborne was our sixth runner finishing with a time of 23:56.2.
Saturday was a tough day for the ladies. They had to fight the heat and humidity but they competed hard! Laila Black (sophomore) and Sarah Wallace (junior) came in at 1 and 2 with new course bests with times of 25:11 and 25:59. Kydee Schults ran strong for our 3rd runner and Bryley Wulff rounded off the team. “Running at noon in the middle of August is not ideal for racing, but the girls worked hard till the end of the race,” Coach Tami Hill states.
This Saturday the teams will travel to Milton Union for the Bob Schul race. The boys team will race at 8:15am and the girls will race at 9:35am.
