On Wednesday September 20th the cross country programs hosted the inaugural running of the Steve Peters Invitational. Our home meet was renamed last year as a tribute to the one and only Mr. Steve Peters. Mr. Peters has been an integral part of the track and cross country programs at Franklin for over 40 years. He has served as head coach of both programs, meet manager for track and cross country and countless other roles over that time. This meet gave our runners the opportunity to run fast as the course was only two miles instead of the typical 5k and many of our runners were able to hit some great paces.

In the boys race our team was led by Liam Acevedo (12:23) and Bryson Hall (12:24) who had some great kicks as they entered the track and headed toward the finish. They were followed closely by Oliver Crosthwaite (12:41), Angel Wooten (12:52), Daniel Osborne (13:15), and Caleb Osborne (13:33). Isaac Shults (15:43), and Donovan Bulter (15:49) posted their best paces of the season so far.

In the girls race we had a tight grouping with all of our ladies finishing within about a minute of each other. The team was led by Brylee Wullf (15:27), and Sarah Wallace (15:33). They were followed by Kydee Shults (16:27) and Laila Black (16:31).

We also took the opportunity to recognize all of our seniors who will be graduating after this season. They have been a fantastic group, many of which have run together for 6 years, and are planning to continue their running careers in college. They will all be greatly missed. Our Seniors are Liam Acevedo, Carter Black, Kensi Black, Chris Bond, Bryson Hall, Austin Hitte, Riley Mullin, Isaac Shults.

Thanks to all who came out to volunteer and cheer on our runners. Saturday we travel to Kettering for the Neal Charske Invitational where we will have runners racing at 9, 9:30 and 10am.
