On Saturday the Franklin cross country teams made the quick trek over to Springboro High School for the Springboro Cross Country Invitational. The course was a little dry, but fast and the temperatures were fairly perfect early in the day, and led to some new personal bests for quite a few of our runners.
In the boys race Oliver Crosthwaite has rounded back into form after struggling through a bit of an injury to start the season. He led the cats with a new personal best time of 17:20.3 placing 38th out of 180 runners and helping the boys team to secure a 9th place finish out of 18 participating teams. Donovan Schuyler (18:36.9) also set a new PR finishing second for the team and was closely followed by Daniel Osborne (18:42.1). Tre Henley (19:38.3), Caleb Osborne (19:59.7), Kellen Dunn (20:30.0), and Brian Davidson-Cunningham (21:32.9), also with a huge new PR, rounded out the scoring members of our team in the varsity race. Milo Nau (28:19.3) and Brennen Dunn (25:03.9) also set new personal best times at the race Saturday.
In the girls race the temperatures started to heat up, and the sun really came out, causing the PR conditions to deteriorate, but some of the girls still managed to set new personal bests, or come close to their best times of the season. Laila Black (22:55) led the team and was the first member of our scoring group to cross the finish line. She was followed by Gigi Perkins (23:15), Kydee Shults (24:04), Bryley Wulff (24:44), Brooklyn Hall (25:25), and Chloe Moore (38:03).
Everyone is looking forward to the next meet this Saturday at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course at Cedarville University. This is one of the best maintained permanent courses not only in Ohio but the entire Midwest. The boys race begins at 9am followed by the girls race at 9:35. Come cheer on the Wildcats as they hunt down even more PR's.
