Yesterday the Wildcat track teams travelled to Lebanon for the Lebanon Invitational. This was a very competitive meet with many large schools participating. The weather was perfect for once and the Wildcats gave a great effort and had some spectacular performances, including the girls 4 x100m relay team of Lily Cook, Jayla Wilbourn, Sienna Finton and Brooklyn Steiner matching the school record that was last set over 30 years ago in 1990. This team will be looking to take the record outright next week at the SWBL Championship meet. In addition to the record setting 4x1 Sienna Finton placed 4th in high jump, with a height of 4'10". Brooklyn Steiner also came away with a ne PR and 2nd place overall in the 200m dash with a time of 13.00.
The boys team had some nice performances as well. They were led by Connor Green and Malachi Gipson who both scored in multiple events. Connor placed 4th overall in the 1600 (4:44.56) and was part of the 8th place 4x400m relay team and the 4th place 4x800m relay team along with Donovan Schuyler, Oliver Crosthwaite, and Daniel Osborne. Malachi scored points in the 200m dash with a 6th place finish (23.06) as well as the 4x100m relay team that placed 5th (45.31) with Jaylin Riley, Ryan Michael and Connor Young.
This was the Wildcats last tune-up before the start of the postseason. Nest Wednesday and Friday the Cats will be travelling to Ross for the SWBL Championship. The meet will begin at 5pm both days with prelims scheduled for Wednesday and Finals on Friday. Come out and cheer the teams on as they seek to bring home some hardware.
