On Friday Franklin Track hosted the Bartt Owens Invitational. This was the 24th annual Bartt Owens Invitational, which was named after captain Bartt Owens in 2002. Bartt was a 1990 graduate of Franklin High School who lettered three times in track and was killed in 2002 as a member of the army Night Stalkers when his Chinook Helicopter was shot down in the Phillipines.
The Wildcats brought their best to the meet and the boys team earned a 5th place finish with the girls coming away with 6th out of 11 teams. For the men's team Connor Green had a spectacular night finishing first in both the 1600m run (4:43.38) and the 800m run (2:06.64). Connor also was part of the 4x800 meter relay team that finished 3rd along with Oliver Crosthwaite, Daniel Osborne and Donavon Schuyler as well as the anchor on the 4x400 meter relay team that finished 4th along with Eli Koss, Oliver Crosthwaite and Ryan Michael. Not to be overshadowed Eli Koss was the second highest point earner for the team scoring in the 4x400 and placing second in both the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles. The mens 4x100m relay team of Jaylin Riley, Malachi Gipson, Connor Young and Connor Ramsey, also came away with an impressive 2nd place finish.
The Lady Cats earned the majority of their points from field events this meet. The top scorer for the team was Savannah Steiner who had an impressive meet by placing 2nd overall in the long jump with a new personal best of 14'7". Savannah also scored points as part of the 4x100 meter relay team, along with Jayla Wilbourn, Ava Milligan and Kasey Jones, placing second. Sienna Finton earned a 5th place finish in the high jump with a height of 4'8" and Millie Nau earned a 4th place finish in pole vault with a a height of 7'. Audrey O'Hara scored in multiple events as well placing 6th in the discus and 8th in the shot put.
The Wildcats will be traveling to Oakwood tomorrow to take on the Lumberjacks and the Bellbrook Eagles in a tri meet. Field events will begin at 4:30 followed by running events at 5pm.
