Varsity Wrestlers Heading to Columbus

This past weekend the Franklin Wildcats had 10 kids compete in the district tournament tying both Alter and Reading for the most representatives. The Cats placed 4th as a team with athletes from 47 different teams from Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati. Coach Bray is sending 5 Cats to the state Tournament next weekend in Columbus, tying a school record from 2001!
At 106 pounds Blaine Napier punched his ticket to the state tournament, rattling off 4 straight wins after taking a loss in the first round and storming back to get 4th place, making Blaine just the 2nd Wildcat in history to qualify for the state tournament as a freshman. Daniel Osborne represented the Cats at 120 pounds and ended his season as a district Qualifier as a Sophomore. At 126 pounds Junior, Dareyan Egner punched his ticket as a district Finalist for the 2nd year in a row, making him a 2X state Qualifier for the Franklin Wildcats and looking to be a 2X state placer after next weekend. At 132 pounds Senior, Junior Creager punched his ticket making the district finalis and is now a 2X state qualifier for the Wildcats. At 144 Pounds Senior, Tucker Campbell Qualified for the state tournament for the 3rd time this past weekend placing 3rd at Districts with his only loss coming to the #1 ranked wrestler in the state, Tucker is also looking to be a 2X state placer after this weekend. At 150 pounds Senior, Carter Reed ended his career this weekend going 1-2 making Carter a 3X district Qualifier for the Wildcats. At 157 pounds, Junior Jack Berry Punched his ticket to the State Tournament making the district Finals and falling to the returning State Finalist. At 165 pounds Sophomore, Bryant Ferguson ended his season as a District Qualifier going 1-2 this past weekend. At 175 pounds Senior, Malachi Gipson made it in the tournament as an alternate and ended his first season being a wrestler as a district qualifier. At 215 pounds Junior, Dillon Smith ended his season as a district qualifier losing in the first round to returning state champ. Good Luck to the 5 kids wrestling for a state championship next weekend at the Jerome Schottenstein Center, The Ohio State University, Columbus.
